Dano Hutnik, the acclaimed chef and owner of Dano’s Heuriger on Seneca Lake in Lodi died last Friday.
Hutnik helped attract national attention to the Finger Lakes culinary scene. He was named the best chef in the Northeast in the James Bead Awards in 2012 and 2014.
In 1990 Hutnik and his wife opened “Dano’s on Cayuga” in Ithaca. The high-end restaurant showcased French, Italian and Eastern European food.
Hutnik was a native of Ukraine. He was 69-years old.
Friends, chefs, restaurateurs, farmers, winemakers, Finger Lakes family: A memorial celebration will be held for Dano Hutnik today at 2 pm at Dano’s Heuriger on Seneca.
