Gary Howell. On Monday night we said good bye to our father, our grandpa, our old poppa. We said good bye to our brother, our neighbor and our best friend. Gary left this world a better place with his warm sincere smile, his sparkling eyes, and his ever present sense of humor.
A celebration of life will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. at 830 Glover Road, Clyde.
He was a country boy, growing up in Clyde. He married Kathleen Dickson in 1954, started a career in drafting at Gould’s pumps. Gary was involved in the local government, Jaycees, St. Mary’s Church, and the Elks Club as well in Waterloo. He retired in 1992 and moved back to Clyde where he and Kay had many happy years there until her death in 2007. He stayed in Clyde and traveled the country regularly to visit family and friends. Most recently he has attended and hosted weddings and family events with his gal pal and friend Ann Turkett. Together they stayed active to the present day.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam (William) Jones of Waterloo; sons Jim Howell of Clyde and Bill Howell of Fort Meyers, Fla.; five grandchildren James (Amanda) Howell Jr., Shawn Howell, Jarrod Jones, Jocelyn (Joe) Venni and Mallory (Tim) Corcoran; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Lou Ann Montemorano; his brother, Ralph Howell.
Thank you for your time this time until next time.
