David J. Batt, M.D., age 92, passed away peacefully, on Monday (May 14, 2018).
Friends may call Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Parish, for St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
Dr. Batt was born and raised in Buffalo. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and served with the Navy Hospital Corps. Dr. Batt earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1949 and played hockey and baseball there. He graduated from the University of Buffalo Medical School in 1953. Dr. Batt practiced Internal medicine for 41 years. He spent two years at the Muncie Clinic in Indiana and 39 years at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Dr. Batt was the former President of the Clifton Springs Hospital Staff and Ontario County Medical Society. He retired in 1997. Dr. Batt enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, skiing and tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Seward) Batt; brother, Jerome Batt; father-in-law, Gerald Seward; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Batt, Susan (Jim) Jabaut, Carol (Todd) DeVinney and Kathy Seward; many nieces and nephews, including Brian (Allison) Lazarus and William Hargrove.
He was predeceased by 11 siblings.
