The Tompkins County Health Department have confirmed that several people were bitten by a rabid fox over the weekend.
The incidents happened on and near the Ithaca College campus between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Those impacted are now being treated for exposure to rabies. Since it was showing symptoms of rabies and was a public danger, the fox was killed and submitted for testing to the health department.
This is the third confirmed rabies positive animal in Tompkins County this year.
