Former Manchester Town Justice Erica Martin has pleaded guilty to a charge of grand larceny after being accused of stealing more than 8-THOUSAND dollars while serving in that position.
Martin was arrested in March of last year for allegedly stealing court fines and surcharges, starting in January of 2016 when she took over the position. An investigation began after discrepancies were found during a routine audit of town funds. According to court documents, the thefts continued until December of that year. Following her plea and conviction, Martin was officially disqualified and removed as town justice.
Judge Roger Gosper of Phelps has been appointed by the Manchester Town Board to fill their vacant justice position through the end of the year.
