Auburn City Council will vote on Thursday to hold a special session on Saturday May 5. Council wants to hold an executive session to discuss candidates for the open position of City Comptroller.
The position has been vacant since Laura Wills resigned in February to take a position at the Fitzpatrick Nuclear Plant in Oswego County. She has been assisting the city on a part-time basis, including working on the city budget.
City Manager Jeff Dygert said on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the budget process is moving forward after council members gave their thoughts on the proposed spending plan at last week’s meeting.
The initial budget included a preliminary tax levy of 5%, which is above the state tax cap. He explained how the tax rate is determined.
A public hearing is scheduled for the May 24th meeting, and council is expected to vote on the final budget on June 7.
