A 23-year-old Seneca Falls man was killed Tuesday night after being involved in a motorcycle-car accident on Ovid Street in the village.
According to the Seneca Falls Police, Kye Cole was operating a motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass another northbound car that was making a left turn onto Bridge Street. Cole struck the turning vehicle, which resulted in him being ejected from his motorcycle and thrown into a light pole. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Rachel Swick, of Ovid, was not injured.
Investigators say that prior to the accident, a motorcycle matching the description fitting Cole’s motorcycle was seen by police traveling at a high rate of speed on Routes 89 and 414 in Seneca Falls and Fayette. Because of the reckless nature of Cole’s driving and the high speeds, police did not pursue him for safety concerns.
