Auburn school students will get an early start to Spring Break. There will be no classes on Friday afternoon so teachers and staff can attend a school safety seminar.
Auburn Police Sgt. Greg Dann tells Finger Lakes News Radio the session is the brainchild of School Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo.
The seminar includes a video reenactment of a crisis incident at a school in Amherst NY ten years ago.
Sgt. Dann says the department’s School Resource Officers are proactive in working with the school district to deal with a number of safety issues, including cyber bullying, and physical threats.
Auburn Police and firefighters went through an active-shooter drill during the February school break.
