Cayuga County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Brian Schenck recently confirmed he is running to succeed Sheriff David Gould in November, and County Coroner Dr. Adam Duckett also announced he’s seeking a second term.
Both appeared on Monday’s Finger Lakes Morning News. Lt. Schenck says if he’s successful, he expects an easy transition from the head of the detective bureau to being Sheriff.
Dr. Duckett is also heavily involved in the community, especially in dealing with the opioid crisis.
He recently added a position with the medical staff at the county jail to his portfolio.
Cayuga County Democratic Party Chair Ian Phillips says in an email to Finger Lakes News Radio the party is “in the process of talking to potential candidates and will be until the petitioning process begins in June.”
