Ontario County has become the latest to join a lawsuit seeking damages from pharmaceutical companies to counter the ongoing opioid epidemic.
The suit claims opioid manufacturers used “deceptive marketing” that misled doctors and consumers about the potential dangers of long-term opioid use.
Sixteen counties, including Steuben and Seneca, have signed onto the class-action suit, hoping to recover millions of dollars to help deal with law enforcement, mental health, and social services costs.
