Leon R. VanBuskirk died on April 6, 2018 at the Veteran’s Community Living Center in Bath, NY.
A family celebration of Leon’s life to be held at a later time.
Leon was born June 23, 1931 in Geneva, New York. Leon was a Life member of the Duck Hunter’s Club in Dresden; Elks Club, Penn Yan; American Legion, PY, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Penn Yan, N.Y. Leon worked at the American Can in Geneva, N.Y. from 1954-1989. He served in the United States Marine Corp – Korea; was a volunteer Fireman for the Dresden Fire Dept., a volunteer for the United Methodist Church’s First Aid Closet and Leon was a life customer of the Dairyman’s Diner in Dresden, New York.
Leon was beloved by his family and friends. His selflessness and sense of humor touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by wife, Trudy Van Buskirk (Siegrist); daughter, Dian (Bern) Smith; grandchildren Jeremy (Ann and great-grandson Bastian Smith); Jennie (Ryan and great-grandson, Brayden Babcock); granddaughters Shannon, and Shelby; grandson, Shane of Candor, N.Y.; son, Robert Van Buskirk; granddaughter, Mollie; great-grandson, Liam; great-granddaughter, Emilia Ames of Penn Yan, N.Y.; step-daughter, Braedy (Michael) DelRossa; great-grandson, Payton; great- granddaughter, Grace of Geneva, N.Y.; step-son, Bret (Jacklyn) Siegrist; great-granddaughter, Jade; great-grandson, Duke Riley; step-son, Todd (Kay) Hancock of Long Beach, Calif.
Leon was predeceased by son, Larry Van Buskirk.
