The Canandaigua City Police Department has made an arrest in the armed robbery case which occurred on April 3rd, at the Canandaigua Jewelry and Coin Exchange. On April 5th, 2018, at approximately 11:31a.m., members of the Canandaigua Police Department and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 32-year-old James A. Moore, of Rochester NY, for robbery in the first degree.
It is alleged that on April 3rd, 2018, at approximately 11:40 am, Moore entered the Canandaigua Jewelry and Coin Exchange and presented himself as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. During the incident, it is alleged that Moore took the employee of the business to a back room, placed physical restraints on the employee, displayed a firearm and subsequently stole property from the business.
The investigation is on-going, and is a collaborative effort between the Canandaigua City Police Department, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police
Moore was arraigned in Canandaigua City court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of bail in the amount of $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond. Additional charges are pending.
