Joe Dan Tipps, 91, passed away on Monday (April 2, 2018) at Geneva Living Center South, Geneva, NY.
There will be no prior calling hours at the family’s request. Immediate family members will attend his burial in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls, NY.

Joe Dan was born in Childress, Texas on March 2, 1927, the son of the late George and Flossie (Billingsley) Tipps. Joe Dan earned college degrees from Harding College, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Rochester. Joe Dan was a devoted father and husband who had a passion for sharing his love of history with his students at Geneva High School and DeSales. Joe Dan loved to play golf and was a tennis champion in college. In addition to his love of sports, Joe Dan was an avid numismatist and a Free Mason. Joe Dan was a thoughtful and kind person with a wonderful sense of humor and a keen wit.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at the Living Center Geneva South and the Circle hospice nursing staff for their watchful care and kind support during Joe Dan’s stay.
He is survived by two sons Joe Dan (Kathy Tomion) Tipps, Jr of Fairport, N.Y., Sean (Daisy) Tipps of Branford, Conn., two granddaughters Meghan (Eric) Teeter of Fairport, N.Y., Kaitlyn (Trevor) Sousa of Fairport, N.Y.; three great-granddaughters Sophia Sousa of Fairport, N.Y., twins Corie and Hannah Teeter of Fairport, N.Y.; great-grandson, Slade Sousa of Fairport, N.Y.; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe Dan was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen (LaManna) of 60 years; and his brother, George David Tipps of Little Rock, Alaska.
