Charles N. Walker, 82 entered eternal rest on Saturday (March 31, 2018) at Rochester General Hospital.
Family will greet friends at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark Saturday (April 7, 2018) from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services and burial will be private.
Charles was born the son of the late Kenneth and Thelma (Lindsey) Walker on Monday (July 15, 1935) in Penfield, N.Y. He was a graduate of Penfield High School class of 1953. Right after high school Charlie joyed the United States Army. While in the service, he played baseball and received Letters of Commendation and the Helms Award. After his military tour, he was offered a position with the Manchester United Soccer Team. He turned down the offer to return home to family. While in Germany, he played soccer, and 1955 he played for the United States in the former Hitler’s Coliseum. After his military service he played softball for Al’s Green Tavern and won the world championship in the late1950’s. During this time he tried out for a major league baseball team and was denied for health reason.
The funeral home proudly flies the Army Flag in his honor his service to our country.
Charlie will be remembered by his wife of 35 years, Raphael “Raffy” M Walker; son, Charles (Marsha) Walker and family; daughter, Kathy Walker and family; brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Walker; sisters Jennifer (Taylor) Brown and Joanne Walker; step-son, Edward R Woods; step-daughter, Meredith A Sposato; step-granddaughter, Ashley N Sposato; many, nieces and nephews and friends.
