Mary was born on July 6, 1929 in the town of Richmond, the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Lola P. Belcher-Steen. After raising their six children and fostering numerous children from Seneca County with her husband, Stanley, she went on to graduate from the Geneva School of Practical Nursing in 1972. She worked at the Geneva General Hospital as an LPN for 23 years in the Obstetrics Unit where she assisted in the delivery of hundreds of babies along with several of her own grandchildren. Mary also was a volunteer at the House of John, a member of Saint Mary’s Faith Community, and an active member of the Concerned Citizens of Seneca County. She loved to read and garden, but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is proudly survived by sons Stanley E. (Cindy), Michael J. (Lisa Williams) both of Seneca Falls, and Daniel C. (Irene) Lambert of Waterloo; daughters Kathleen M. (Jack) Kuney of Waterloo, Susan L. (Kris) Jackson of Queensbury, N.Y. and Mary Ann Fenton of Bradenton, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth (William) McClurg of Akron, N.Y.; sisters-in-law Doris J. Steen of Panama City Fla. and Doris Steen of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Stanley C. Lambert of Waterloo; and brothers Thomas, Paul, John and Richard Steen.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Hospice of Lifetime Care for their compassionate care.
