A 49-year-old Geneva woman is in Ontario County Jail after leading police on a chase that ended in the Yates County town of Torrey Thursday afternoon.
Lamarr Berry was wanted on a warrant out of Ontario County Court for 3 counts of failure to register as a sex offender. Berry was seen by Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies driving thru Geneva around the noon hour and began to lead them on a pursuit. Police say Berry reached speeds between 45 to 60 MPH in Geneva, running stop signs and stop lights and driving in both lanes of traffic. At one point, Berry slowed down allowing a male front seat passenger to jump out of her car and into the street. As she eluded sheriff’s deputies and Geneva City Police, Berry continued driving erratically on Route 14. Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies set up Stop Sticks in an attempt to end the pursuit. Seeing the sticks, Berry pulled over and was taken into custody.
She was jailed on charges of felony failure to register as a sex offender and vehicle pursuit. Berry faces additional charges in the city and town of Geneva.
