Auburn City Council on Thursday night approved the $2.25 Million bond that will fund long overdue improvements to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
City Clerk Chuck Mason said on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News most of the funding will go to replacing the 24-year old UV filtration system.
Council also voted to spend $112,000 to repair the historic but rotting cupola atop the police station. Chief Shawn Butler says it’s not just for esthetics.
Chief Butler expects the work will begin as soon as the weather breaks. The wastewater plant upgrades could be a two to three year project.
