Stanley H. Beers Sr. age 76, of 2518 Parish Road, passed away peacefully at his home, following a brief illness.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday (March 17) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid. A ceremony at the funeral home will then be led by Tracy Murphy and Alexandra Parker at 2 p.m.
Stanley was born on October 20, 1941 in Seneca Falls, a son of the late Stanley R. and Margaret (Kuney) Beers. He was married to Joanne White on April 28, 1962, while serving in the US Navy. He had a long career with the Carpenters Union #747 of Oswego, where he worked as a millwright and welder for many years in the Syracuse and Oswego areas. His many hobbies included fishing, woodworking and welding. He had raised coon hounds and went raccoon hunting with his friends. Stanley enjoyed watching his son James race at Starlite Speedway dirt race track. He golfed at Big Oaks golf course in Geneva, with longtime friend and owner, Graham Sharman, enjoyed making custom golf clubs and attended many tournaments there. Most importantly, the time that he could spend with his grandchildren, was the most cherished. He proudly attended the marriage of his daughter in the past few days of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joanne; his daughter, Yvonne (Terry) Beers-Wilson of Ovid; and his adopted son, James Badalamenti Beers of Ovid; his grandchildren Erik (Sarah) Beers, and Jayla Beers; his great grandchildren Solstice, Cash, Connor, and other beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings Brantley Beers of Lyons, Betty Stein of Waterloo, and Donna (Ron) White of Hickory, N.C.; his sisters-in-law Jackie (Carl) Farney, and Skip Brignall; many nieces and nephews (especially Kathie Stein who has always been there for the Stein-Beers family); and his best friend and neighbor, Leo Young.
Stanley was preceded in death by his son, Stanley H. Beers Jr. in 2014.
