UPDATE MONDAY 9:30am: It was a chaotic scene on Sunday as Auburn Police spent nearly ten hours trying to coax a robbery suspect off of the roof of a house on Orchard St.
Detective Bryant Bergenstock tells Finger Lakes News Radio the incident began when 33-year old Bradley Strange allegedly attempted to rob a 73-year old man after the good samaritan had driven him to Auburn from Aurelius.
He adds there were negotiations with Strange, but it eventually became a waiting game.
Shortly before 8 in the evening Strange jumped off the roof and tried to escape but only made it to the house next door. He’s in custody facing multiple robbery, weapons and parole violation charges.
UPDATE MONDAY 5:30am: An hours long standoff with an armed robbery suspect on the roof of a home on Orchard St. in Auburn ended last night with arrest when he jumped off the roof and tried to flee. Auburn Police allege 33-year old Bradley Strange attempted to rob a 73-year old man after the victim had driven him to Auburn. The man was treated at Auburn Community Hospital for cuts to his hands.
The investigation led officers to 51 Orchard St, and when they attempted to interview the occupants, Strange climbed onto the roof and refused to come down. Shortly before 8 last night he jumped off the roof and attempted to flee, but was quickly captured.
Strange faces multiple robbery, weapons and parole violation charges. The investigation by Auburn Police is continuing. UPDATE: At approximately 8:00pm on Sunday night, the suspect jumped off of the roof of the house on Orchard St. and attempted to flee. He was quickly apprehended and was taken to Auburn Police headquarters.
A lengthy investigation into the initial incident and the subsequent hours-long standoff is ongoing. It is not expected that Auburn Police will be releasing any information until sometime on Monday.

A police source tells Finger Lakes News Radio the man is suspected in a stabbing incident on Sunday afternoon. The suspect is known to police, has recently been released from prison and is wanted on an outstanding warrant or warrants.
