This is International Women’s Day and in Geneva there is a Women’s Strike planned for later today.
The Geneva Women’s Assembly is organizing today’s event to draw attention to the unfairness of workers in hospitality and farm industries, as well as the work women do everyday.
Hanna Dickinson is one of the strike organizers.
The event will feature a rally, followed by musical performances and the creation of a community art project. This is the second year the group has planned an event to mark March 8th.
Last year, several hundred rallied in front of Congressman Tom Reed’s Exchange Street office, occupying the office for a period of time.
The strike-takes place between Noon and 1 today in the Bicentennial Park in downtown Geneva.
