A report from the Cayuga County Water and Sewer Authority says the Village of Aurora’s water system is well past its best by date.
Project Advisor Doug Selby tells Finger Lakes News Radio there are two issues of concern.
Selby adds the cost of a new water treatment system is well beyond the ability of the Village’s 200 residents to pay for it.
The Authority is undertaking a year-long study of the water and sewer infrastructure in the county, and Selby says Aurora is not alone.
Wells College has been operating the water treatment plant, but college officials have given notice they want to get out of the water business and become a water customer.
