A number of gun control proposals have emerged in the wake of the Parkland, Florida school shootings. Congressman Tom Reed says he is not backing any specific proposal at this time. In a visit to Geneva Thursday, Reed said he is working with the so-called problem-solving caucus, a group of 24 Republican and 24 Democratic lawmakers, on a solution.
Asked by Finger Lakes News Radio if he would be willing to back any proposal that didn’t meet the approval of the National Rifle Association, Reed said he would prefer to see the NRA come to the table.
Earlier this week, President Trump weighed in with a proposal of his own that goes beyond what most Congressional Republicans have offered, urging them not to be afraid of the politically powerful NRA.
