Lawrence W. Rockwell passed away peacefully February 23, 2018 at Monroe Community Hospital.
Friends may call Sunday (March 4) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.A. Patrick Funeral Home, 26 West Main Street, Clifton Springs. A Celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held 11 a.m. Monday (March 5) at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 32 East Main Street, Clifton Springs.
Contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Clifton Springs Fire Department or Happy Tails in Lawrence’s memory.
Lawrence was born December 23, 1931 in Danbury, Connecticut the son of the late Winthrop and Olivia Rockwell. He grew up Ridgefield, Connecticut and was a graduate of Kent School and Wesleyan University. He served in the United States Army. Lawrence was self employed as a Manufacturers’ Representative. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Clifton Springs Country Club. Lawrence was a 50+ year member of the Clifton Springs Fire Department and active in the Ontario County Fire Police. He was very active in the Clifton Springs Food Cupboard, Second Seasons and area Christian Men’s groups. Lawrence previously served on committees for
the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. He enjoyed playing bridge and golfing traveling with his wife, Virginia.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Dr. Susan Rockwell of Canandaigua; grandsons Nathan Barott and Jack Keenan both of Canandaigua; brother-in-law, Don (Janet) Tyler; nieces and nephews Margaret Pierson, Winthrop Rockwell III, Richard Hutchinson, Virginia Tyler Smith, John Tyler III and Barrie Hillman; cousin, Susan (Howard) Sabin of Geneva; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Cocoa.
Lawrence is predeceased by his wife, Virginia in 2016; brothers Winthrop Jr. and Richard; sister-in-law, Ruth Rockwell; nephew, Richard; and son-in-law, Ken Keenan.
