Development officials in Monroe County are still hopeful that furniture retailer IKEA will selected a location in Henrietta as the site for it’s new store in Western New York.
The Finger Lakes Times reports Seneca County leaders believe sites in the town of Tyre have been rejected by IKEA.
All the buzz over IKEA started late last month when the company sent teams to scout sites for a new location in the Rochester region. Seneca County has the del Lago Casino and the Outlet Mall, but does not have a major airport, something the company expressed interest in.
There is no time frame for IKEA’s decision.
IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943 and now has 46 stores in the United States. The only stores in New York on in Brooklyn and on Long Island.
