A Corning man convicted in the 2012 murder of a Schuyler County man appeared in Cayuga County Court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to attempting to possess a dangerous weapon at the Auburn Correctional Facility.
Nathan Hand admitted he tried to possess a “slashing type weapon” while an inmate at Auburn last year. Hand, who is now serving his 19-year sentence at the Southport Correctional Facility, was sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in prison for attempted felony promoting prison contraband.
In 2012, Hand testified to helping his step-brother kill Daniel Bennett in the town of Dix. That same step-brother later committed suicide in Pennsylvania when he jumped in front of a passenger train.
