| The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff reports the arrest of a Red Creek resident for several Vehicle and Traffic violations, along with possession of cocaine and a handgun.
Clayton Reed, age 58, of Route 104A, Red Creek, NY 13143, was observed passing a Wayne County Deputy while in their patrol vehicle, and a plow truck, in a No Passing Zone, on Arcadia Zurich Norris Road, in the Town of Arcadia. Due to the observing deputy having a prisoner in the patrol vehicle, he called to the next closest deputy. The second deputy came into contact with suspect vehicle in the Village of Newark, on West Pearl St. When stopped, Clayton Reed, the driver and only person in the vehicle, was observed making overt and suspicious movements inside the vehicle. When the deputy was speaking with Mr. Reed, he observed a plastic bag that appeared to contain cocaine sitting on the center console, near the vehicle’s shifter. Further investigation and search of the vehicle revealed more cocaine and a handgun. Mr. Reed, having a criminal history with 5 misdemeanor and 4 felony convictions, is not allowed to possess a handgun in New York State. Mr. Reed did possess a total of 11.5 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine. Mr. Reed was charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance in the 3RD Degree, a B-Felony, Criminal Possesion Controlled Subtance in the 4TH Degree, a C-Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3RD Degree, a D-Felony, and several Vehicle and Traffic violations. He was then brought before the Village of Newark Justice Court where he was remanded, without bail, to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Jail to appear at a later date. There was no bail set due to the amount of felony convictions Mr. Reed has.
