Elizabeth F. “Betty” Naegele, 91 of Geneva, passed away on Saturday (February 3, 2018) in Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva on Tuesday (February 6, 2018) from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (February 7, 2018) in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nester Hose Co. of the Geneva Fire Department, 207 Genesee St., Geneva, NY 14456 or to the Committee on Firematic Activities, Geneva Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 911, Geneva, NY 14456.
Betty was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Fredenburg Walsh. She was a graduate of DeSales High School and worked for the NY Telephone Co., J. C. Penney Co. and retired from Hobart & William Smith Colleges. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, board games and “tickets”. Betty loved to dance and socialize with family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed summers and sunsets at the cottage on Seneca Lake and she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.
Betty is survived by her husband of seventy years, Carlton J. Naegele; her son, Bernard (Lorrie) Naegele of Geneva; her two daughters Sherry (Dick) Birdsall of the Villages, Fla.; and Lynda (Gregg) Comstock of Bedford, N.H.; her sister, June Jones of Rochester; five grandchildren Brent (Amy) Naegele, Corey Naegele; Ryan (Rachael) Comstock, Jeff Comstock and Heather Comstock; her great-granddaughter, Corrina Comstock, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Ruth Robinson, John E. Walsh, Edward Walsh, and Mary Jane Champlin.
