New charges were filed Monday against the 45 year old Fairport man arrested this month for allegedly stealing mail while working as a postal carrier in Victor.
According to State Police, while James Ludwig was being taken into custody January 12th, he was found to be in possession of drugs. Ludwig was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and will appear in Victor Town Court February 8th.
In late December, the U.S. Postal Service received complaints about mail thefts from a specific mail route in Victor that Ludwig was the assigned carrier. The missing mail contained either cash or gift cards.
If convicted on a charge of mail theft, Ludwig could get a maximum of 5 years in federal prison and a 250-THOUSAND dollars fine.
