We want you to find (literary) love this month during our Blind Date With a Book event. Beginning February 1, we will have a display in the library of wrapped books with only brief hints about what is inside. Pick one to check out, but don’t unwrap it until you get home. Then, see if your date holds up to your standards. Maybe you’ll find a new love. Swoon!
Library Love Photo Booth
Take a selfie and support your local library! Throughout the month of February, we invite you to use our library photo booth and take a picture in support of libraries. Use our library iPad or take one with your phone and upload it to social media with #seymourlove and #loveyourlibrary.
Be a library advocate! Contact your NYS Assemblyperson and Senator by email, phone, or mail. Postcards will be available at Seymour Library. Write down why you love libraries and we will deliver them to Albany during Library Advocacy Day, February 28.
“GO WEST, GO MAN!”
Monday, February 26 at 6 pm
At the end of their careers aboard the mighty ships that prowled the seas in search of whales and the valuable whale oil that lit the world of the late 18th and 19th century, several whale ship captains and sailors headed west to begin a new chapter of their lives away from the waves. Several of these former sailors chose our own city of Auburn to begin life away from the roar of the sea. Join the History Discovery Center’s Research Assistant Shawn Connery on Monday, February 26 at 6 pm and learn about a few of these brave men and their lives upon the seas and among the streets and outskirts of Auburn.
