Republican State Senator John DeFrancisco has been testing the water before deciding if he’ll seek the GOP nomination to challenge Gov. Cuomo in November, but as of Thursday morning he has yet to make an official announcement.
The Erie County Republican Committee is holding a candidates forum next month that lists DeFrancisco along with Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb and former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra as “confirmed candidates.”
He sounded in campaign mode when he ripped the Governor’s executive budget on the Finger Lakes Morning News.
The GOP Deputy Senate leader slammed Cuomo’s claim that the federal tax reform will lead to an exodus of New Yorkers and doomsday for those who stay.
DeFrancisco said even progressives like former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner are critical of Cuomo’s spending plan and programs.
