The number of flu cases in Cayuga County is on the rise. The Health Department reports 393 cases have been reported since October 1.
The Centers for Disease Control reports influenza A has been most common this season. 325 cases of influenza A have been reported locally, compared to 68 cases of influenza B, with 76 cases reported in children 18 years of age and younger. Last year at this time, there were only 48 laboratory confirmed cases, 8 of those in children under 18.
County Health officials say it’s not to late to get a flu shot at local pharmacies or you can call the Cayuga County Health Department at 315-253-1560 to schedule a flu shot.
