The president of Ithaca College has a prior conviction for sexual abuse, and the college apparently was aware of that when they hired her. A report in the student newspaper The Ithacan reveals Shirley Collado pleaded no contest to a count of misdemeanor sexual abuse in 2001.
The Ithaca Journal reports Collado was working as a psychologist in Washington at the time of the allegations, and the victim was a patient. Collado was later sentenced to probation.
The college’s Board of Trustees say they were aware of the conviction and fully support Collado, who was sworn in as president of Ithaca College in November.
