A 37 year old Beaver Dams man is in Steuben County Jail after he took off from police Tuesday afternoon.
Corning Police were called to the area of East Second Street to check for a parole absconder. Officers located a man matching the description they were given acting suspiciously, walking through backyards. When they attempted to confirm his identity, the man took off. He was caught a short time later after damaging a resident’s fence.
The suspect was identified as Kevin Quackenbush. He was charged with criminal mischief and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine after it was discovered he had meth-making materials in his possession when arrested.
Quackenbush is being held in jail without bail.
