The nine school districts in Cayuga County get small funding increases in the Governor’s budget. Union Springs tops the list with a 1.75% bump.
While Auburn’s aid level is the highest in the area, it has the third lowest increase among the nine districts at 1.38%. Auburn School Board President Michael McCole said on Tuesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the Foundation Aid formula is broken beyond repair and needs to be replaced.
He added if lawmakers ever replaced Foundation Aid, it would be a case of history repeating itself.
