There’s no doubt it’s the cold and flu season. The Cayuga County Health Department reports there has been a huge increase in the number of reported flu cases compared to last year.
County health educator Deanna Ryan tells Finger Lakes News Radio there have been 250 laboratory confirmed cases since October 1st compared to just 20 during the same period a year ago. But she adds the actual number of cases is probably much higher.
She adds it’s not too late to get a flu shot.
Meanwhile, school districts, including Auburn, are doing their part to prevent the spread of the flu. The district’s custodial staff took advantage of the winter break to do an extra deep cleaning of all the places where germs can congregate.
