Dundee Central School Superintendent Kelly Houck and Elementary Principal Laurie Hopkins-Halbert took part in the district’s first Community Conversation Meeting Tuesday at the Our Town Rocks office on Main Street. The meetings are designed for the district to get input from residents, parents, and other stakeholders in developing a new school vision. We spoke with Superintendent Houck afterwards to get her thoughts on how it went.
Most that attended Tuesday’s session no longer have children that attend school, or just have grandchildren in the district. Kelly says their feedback and input is very important in developing this new vision.
Some of the comments made at Tuesday’s gathering included positive feedback for the district on the afterschool TRAIL program, meeting the needs of district kids and individual learning. In areas where the district needs to improve, attendees focused on communication.
Three meetings will be held today at the DCS Public Meeting Room at 7:30 in the morning and then 1 and 4:30 in the afternoon. Another session will be held Thursday at 10:30 at the Dundee Public Library.
