A joint investigation by Penn Yan Police, State Police and State Parole has resulted in the arrest of 5 people.
Village Police were assisting Troopers in locating two Penn Yan men, 24 year old Joseph Dorsey, who was wanted by State Parole and 25 year old Brandon Thompson, also a parolee, in connection with an incident that occurred outside of the village. Officers ended up at an apartment on Stark Avenue after following shoe tracks in the snow from the duo’s last known location. After several attempts, police made contact with the people inside the apartment, Brittany Keen, Tonya Burleigh and Karen Trautman.
All three claimed they had not seen Thompson or Dorsey and Keen would not allow officers inside the apartment to conduct a search. When police attempted to search the bathroom, Trautman obstructed them by entering the bathroom and closing the door. It was then when officers heard a noise on the roof and determined Dorsey and Thompson had escaped out the bathroom window. Officers pursued both men on the roof and took them into custody.
Dorsey and Thompson were sent to Yates County Jail without bail on parole violation warrants. Keen and Burleigh were charged with hindering prosecution and Trautman was arrested for obstruction of governmental administration. All three will appear in village court at a later date.
