Douglas Paddock has been appointed Chairman of the Yates County Legislature for 2018.
Paddock, who has previously served as Vice Chairman, succeeds Dr. Timothy Dennis after the District Two representative announced last month he would not seek a fifth straight year as chairman. Paddock represents residents of the towns of Middlesex, Italy and Jerusalem on the legislature.
Leslie Church was elected vice-chair at this week’s annual re-organizational meeting. Other reappointments included County Administrator Bob Lawton, Budget Officer Nonie Flynn, Legislature Clerk Connie Hayes, and County Attorney Scott Falvey.
The Legislature holds an organization meeting every two years and members elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman. The Chairman appoints members to the five standing committees and as representatives to various boards and agencies. Each member serves on two of the standing committees.
