Marshall R. Bancroft, 82, of Auburn, formerly of the King Ferry/Genoa area, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017.
Born in Cortland on Oct. 27, 1935, Marshall was the son of the late Ray and Inez Bancroft. Marshall was a longtime farmer on Corey Road in Genoa. He was also a former member of the King Ferry volunteer fire department and a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church.
Marshall is survived by his beloved companion, Jean A. Shepardson; daughters, Victoria Shepardson, Ginny Kapusta (Michael), Carol Colvin (Bill); grandchildren, Dr. Scott Nodzo (Keely Boyle), Stephanie Nodzo (Cesar Antipas), Carly Colvin (Adam Ayala), Jason Colvin (Chelsea DeBois); seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Davis, of Cortland and Beverly Woodard (Rick), of Howell, Michigan; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bancroft, of King Ferry and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Marshall was predeceased by his wife Joan Bancroft and his brother Malcolm Bancroft in October 2017.
Marshall’s kindness and gentleness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Calling hours for Marshall will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held Friday at Auburn United Methodist Church, 99 South St., Auburn at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, King Ferry (weather permitting).
