Helen Marullo Conti, 89, died on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017, just one month shy of her 90th birthday. She was born in Auburn on Jan. 28, 1928 to Louis Marullo and Mary Mancini Marullo, the youngest of their five children. Helen graduated from Holy Family High School and, as a young woman, worked at the General Electric plant in Auburn.
She married her beloved husband, Arthur Conti, on Oct. 1, 1955. Art predeceased her recently on Dec. 2, 2017. Helen stayed at home to raise her children, then later worked at St. Aplhonsus School and Cayuga Home for Children. She retired in 1993 from O. Mustad and Sons, where she worked for 15 years.
Besides her husband, Helen was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Thomas, Sandy, Albert, Bill and Frank Marullo, Rose Denninger, Rosalie Abate, Pearl DelFavero and Matilda Germano.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Snead, of Salisbury, Maryland, and her sons, Michael and Adrian Snead; a son, James Conti and his children, Mackenzie Strougs (Quinn) and her children, Jaden, Jocelyn and Jada Strougs; Jesse Conti and Aaron Conti (Holly) and their mother, Julie O’Reilly. Helen is also survived by her sister-in-law Jenny O’Hare and numerous Marullo and Conti nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Helen was loving and smart and funny. She loved children and was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a strong and determined fighter who oversaw her husband’s care for several years. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Holy Family Church for Helen’s Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
