A night that many will not soon forget took place at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse Wednesday night. The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team played the Corning Hawks out of Section 4 in a non-league game on Jim Boeheim court. Corning went on to win 52-44.
It was a fun night filled with a great atmosphere provided by the staff at the Dome as well as the Corning-Painted Post pep band. The staff at the Dome seemed to really go the extra mile to make sure everyone remembered the evening, not just the players. In addition to all the players being introduced on the court prior to the opening tip-off, the Dome had all of the scoreboards in operation and even televised the game on their two huge electronic scoreboards.
I hope the boys from both teams really enjoyed themselves and the experience they had Wednesday. They really seemed to. I know my broadcast partner, Chuck Smith and I really enjoyed broadcasting a game from the Dome.
It was a fun night for all, win or lose and isn’t that what high school sports should be about?
Enjoy some photos I took of the night below:
