Since leaving the Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus last month, the New York Post is reporting inmate David Sweat is on a hunger strike at Attica.
Sweat, who is serving a life sentence for the 2002 murder of a Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy, garnered national attention in 2015 when he and another inmate escaped Clinton Correctional Facility for approximately 3 weeks. Sweat was captured near the Canadian border, while Richard Matt was killed. Sweat reportedly stopped eating solid food six days after arriving at Attica.
Prison officials are asking a judge allow him to be fed through a tube.
