Charles F. Hess IV, 52, of Ovid, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, (December 4, 2017) in his home.
Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, on Saturday, (December 16, 2017), from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Tae Kun Kim, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
The will be a reception at the First United Methodist Church in Geneva immediately following the funeral service.
Chuck was born in Corning and resided in Geneva for many years. He was the son of Mrs. Betty McAllister Hess and the late Rev. Charles Hess. He was a graduate of Geneva High School, Class of 1983 and attended Finger Lakes Community College. He was a chef at Emile’s Restaurant in Geneva and Boomer’s in Corning before working for the NYS Corrections System. He loved spending time on Seneca Lake.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Hess of Corning; his longtime companion Christine Goble; and her children Ashley Goble and Jordan Goble; his sons Charles Hess V, of NYC and Donny Hess, USMC in Calif.; his daughter, Samantha Slattery of N.Y.; his sister, Louise (Steven) Colasurdo of Shortsville; Christine’s grandchildren Ryder and Camdyn; nephews Christopher (Melissa) Colasurdo and Daniel Colasurdo; several aunts, uncles, cousins.
