Richard E. “Dick” Field, age 84, died unexpectedly on Saturday (December 2, 2017) in Jacksonville Fla.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Dick was born on May 7, 1933, in Bath, N.Y. the son of the late Perry and Thelma Degroff Field. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a cook on the USS Newman K. Perry Destroyer. After Korea he was a cook at Sampson Air Force Base and the Newark State School. He then went to work at Mobil Chemical where he retired in 1995. He enjoyed wood working and traveling. He and his wife belonged to the
Sunnybrook Club. They have been wintering in Florida since 1995.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Field; children David (Cathy) Field of Sumrall, Mississippi, Doug (Julia) Field Penn Yan, Wendy (D.J.) Gelder of Phelps; brother, Robert (Joanne) Field of Redding Pa.; Muriel Brayton of Land-O-Lakes Fla., Linda (Pat) Cook of Wasilla Alaska; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren .
He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Field. Cheney Funeral Home.
