You may not have noticed it, but the first bit of work on the Heritage Center took place earlier this week.
The South Street Gazebo across from City Hall was removed on Tuesday. The gazebo was a gift from City employees in 1992-1993 as part of the Auburn Bicentennial celebration.
The original plan was to salvage the structure so it could be relocated to another City park. Unfortunately, city crews determined the structure had weathered to the point that it couldn’t be saved.
The Christmas Tree that was in the gazebo has been relocated to the front of the Auburn Police and Fire Station.
