Ithaca Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Tompkins County Trust Company on South Meadow Street.
Investigators say a black male entered the bank with a handgun held down to his side and approached a teller demanding that money be put into a white plastic bag he was holding. The teller complied with his demands and the man fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen running behind businesses located on Elmira Road. The suspect was dressed in a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, white sneakers and had a mask covering his face. He is described as having a thin build, approximately 5’10” and a soft spoken voice. Further video evidence revealed the suspect was seen standing near the bank for several minutes before committing the robbery.
