Steuben County could join its neighbors in Yates and Schuyler County in becoming the latest New York State county to take action against the manufacturers and distributors of opioid pain killers. The Steuben County Legislature will meet this afternoon to consider a resolution to join a class action lawsuit seeking payment of damages from any and all persons or entities responsible for creating the opioid addiction epidemic.
Schuyler County was one of the first counties to join the lawsuit. Their Attorney Steven Getman spoke to us at the time and told us the reasoning behind Schuyler joining this lawsuit
The lawsuit will be filed at no risk to the counties, as the law firm Napoli Shkolnikwill work on a contingency basis that will cover all costs associated it.
