
Tompkins County Administrator Joe Mareane has announced he will retire at the end of the month, instead of next February as planned.
According to County Legislature Chairman Mike Lane, Mareane is taking a medical leave. Mareane will leave the county after a 37-year career in public service during which he served as the City of Syracuse’s Budget Director, Assessment Commissioner, and Development Director and later as Onondaga County’s Chief Fiscal Officer. He also held executive positions with the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and the Pyramid Companies.
