On November 16th, 2017 at 10am the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Michael A. Stein, age 37, of 4071 Old Rte 96, Waterloo following a joint investigation with the Internal Auditor of Generations Bank.
The investigation showed that Stein, while employed at Generations Bank, utilized the digital credentials of another employee, without their knowledge, to make electronic fund transfers meant for a bank income account into his own personal accounts on 3 occasions dating back to December 2015 for a total of $1894.60.
Additionally, Stein utilized the same employees digital credentials to digitally manipulate 2 loans he had with the bank so that he was not billed and was not charged several hundred dollars worth of penalties over a 6 month period in 2017.
Stein was charged with 5 Counts of Petit Larceny (misdemeanor), 5 Counts of Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree (felony) and 5 Counts of Computer Trespass (felony). Stein was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court where the matter was divested to County Court for further disposition.
