Following a public hearing Monday night at the Human Services Complex in Montour Falls, the Schuyler County Legislature approved the county budget for next year. Here’s County Administrator Timothy O’Hearn to tell us more about the spending plan.
O’Hearn says there’s a number of reasons for the decrease in the tax rate and the tax levy remaining the same.
O’Hearn said five years ago Schuyler County was in dire straits and was listed as being in “significant fiscal distress” by the state. Today, the county has no fiscal stress rating and the fund balance is being restored.
